Today we will talk about PC Gamer’s annual Game of the Year Awards. Remember, this awards are daily, from December 19 to December 31. In this article I will talk only about the announced awards until December 25.
The Awards
- Best Ongoing Game: Final Fantasy XIV
- Best Action Game: Hades
- Best Roguelike: Spelunky 2
- Best Adventure Game: Paradise Killer
- Best Co-op Game: Phasmophobia
- Best Card Game: Monster Train
- Best Innovation: Microsoft Flight Simulator
Best Ongoing Game
A pretty good decision in choosing this game, but I don’t think this game is for everyone. I think a more common game that qualifies for this category is Fortnite. It broke a lot of records this year with all the events , especially the one with Travis Scott. But, we can’t forget that Fortnite was launched in 2017 and these awards are for games released this year.
Best Action Game
There’s probably no room for discussion here, Hades and DOOM Eternal are in the top of the action games, but I would have chosen DOOM Eternal. Maybe it’s just about preferences, but I think DOOM Eternal deserved this award.
Best Roguelike
YES! Spelunky 2 is perfect for this award .It fits absolutely all the expectations you can have for a Roguelike game. In case you haven’t played it, it’s worth a try!
Best Adventure Game
Absolutely nothing to comment about. There was no better choice for this award.
Best Co-op Game
A very good choice, I played Phasmophobia for about 15 hours and it really deserves this award. It puts you in certain difficulties that you can only solve with the help of your teammates.
Best Card Game
Absolutely nothing to comment about. There was no better choice for this award.
Best Innovation
Microsoft Flight Simulator deserves this award with the greatest warmth. I’ve seen simulator games before, but never so developed. We will see in a few years the potential of this game to the maximum, after it will take data about absolutely the whole planet.
That being said, I hope you understood my opinion about these awards. I can’t wait to see the Game of the Year. (GOTY)
